Brockhaus-Efron Jewish Encyclopedia Zenkov is a district town in Poltava province. According to salary books of the late 18th and early
19th centuries, there were no Jews listed; in 1847 “Zenk. Jewish community" consisted of 304 souls; in 1897 there were over 140 thousand
souls in the district, Jews numbered 1,870; in Z. itself there were 10,443, of which 1,263 were Jews.
