The county was the basic administrative unit in the
the Kingdom of Hungary. Linked below are the
63 counties of the Kingdom not including those
of Croatia and Slavonia. By an earlier system
Hungary had been divided into 5 regions, one of
which was Transylvania. Those regions, which
were never elevated to provincial status, can be
seen here. Transylvania ceased to be an auto-
nomous region after 1868.
